They knew that was longer than the lookout trail but didn't care about that. When they parked their truck in the parking lot, they saw two signs - one said " Falls Lookout" and the other said " Falls trail" so they decided to take the Falls Trail because they wanted to get to the waterfall, not just a lookout.
